Eggs Really Are All They’re Cracked Up to Be

Eggs Really Are All They’re Cracked Up to Be

Did you know you can tell if an egg is old based on whether it floats in water? If an egg floats, it is old. If it sinks, it’s a fresher egg. If you are making hard-boiled eggs, older eggs are easier to peel. A change in moisture and pH results in the egg sticking less to its outer shell. Hard-boiled eggs can be preserved for up to a week in the refrigerator. Leave them in their shells until you are ready to eat for maximum freshness.

Printing Quiz

If your printer mentions a pad, they really mean...

  1. A thick piece of soft material used to reduce friction or jarring.
  2. The fleshy underpart of your finger or an animal’s foot.
  3. A silicone material that is pressed onto ink to pick up the image and pressed again to transfer the image.

Definition: In printing, the pad is the ink transfer mechanism that compresses onto the ink-filled etch to pick up the image and compress it again to apply the image.
